Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery Mazarakis as Faculty Member at the Athens White Matter Dissection and Neurosurgical Anatomy Course

The participation of Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Mr Nektarios Mazarakis, in the “Athens White Matter Dissection and Neurosurgical Anatomy Course” (Athens, 13–15 May 2026) highlighted, in a particularly meaningful way, his educational role in the training of modern neurosurgeons.

Together with distinguished colleagues, and through intensive hands-on training using brain specimens, he focused on microsurgical approach techniques, which are critical for the safe and effective management of complex intracranial pathologies.

With an emphasis on the correlation between anatomy and surgical strategy, Mr Mazarakis guided participants in the identification of key anatomical landmarks and the optimisation of surgical corridors, contributing to the development of skills that reduce surgical risk and improve clinical outcomes.

His teaching approach combined theoretical grounding with practical application, enhancing the trainees’ critical thinking and surgical precision.

His active contribution within an international, high-level educational environment reaffirms his commitment to advancing neurosurgical education and fostering the next generation of specialised brain surgeons.
